When you get here, make sure your first stop is Mapes of Millport, because we have an extensive fleet of over 400 bikes available, in all shapes and sizes from stabilisers, bikes, trikes, tandems, e-bikes, monkey bikes, mobility scooters, tag alongs, dog carriers, through to kiddie cabs.
We also have the Quadricycle, large and mini and The Gran Tour. This enables us to cater for every possible event you can think of, with ease, so for a family away day (trailer for BBQ available if needed!), to school away days and even corporate event days, remember Mapes of Millport not only has the largest fleet, but we are the only cycle hire company on Cumbrae, to have two qualified bicycle mechanics, working onsite, to maintain our own bikes and service yours.

For bookings of 15 cycles or more we offer a 10% discount if you pre-book and pay as a group.

Our Gold Level Velotech trained bicycle mechanics regularly service ALL our bikes to maintain them for the rigorous mileage they cover however if for any reason you do break down contact us as we do offer a roadside assistance service, even dropping off a replacement bike if required to ensure your day carries on being fun!

Important Information:
Battery Use: Each rental includes one battery. Actual range and battery life depend on the rider’s weight and usage. For instance, a heavier rider using full power can complete the island loop in approximately 40 minutes, nearly depleting the battery.
We also offer a selection of family vehicles, perfect for a fun and unique way to explore the island. These can be pre-booked at any time via our website. Please note: These vehicles cannot be booked on the day by arriving at the shop, but if available, they can be collected from the store upon your arrival. Our booking system closes for these items 3 hours ahead of time. ie at 10 am your earliest available booking time would be 1 pm

Designed to have four adults pedalling but can, if you're happy to sit close together, fit up to six people (1m long padded bench seat) and two toddlers sitting on the front basket (up to five years old). These can not be rented out to children and must have an adult driving. We have six of these available so would be great for corporate away days or charity events. Contact us for more information or to bulk book. Due to being a single speed vehicle with not motor the quadricycles typically take on average 2.5 hours to go around the island. Seats two adults and two children with the two adults pedalling. The seating is similar to a recumbent bike, which may offer a different pedalling experience for some. We have only one available, so booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment. Due to being a single speed vehicle with not motor the Grand Tour typically takes around 2.5 hours to complete a circuit of the island, it is fitted with plastic seats and seatbelts for the kids in the front. I am happy to discuss any questions before booking.
Safety and peace of mind are in built with an automatic braking system,
and the Whisper also benefits from puncture proof tyres. A user weight of up to 18
stone can still be transported.
